About the pub
Passing through Monxton its as if time hasn't touched the village for 50 years. A mixture of thatched and clay tiled buildings, some dating from the 16th century, create a wonderful backdrop to this popular destination Inn.
The Black Swan itself dates from at least 1662, possibly earlier, and the 350 years since have seen a number of changes, while keeping one eye firmly on tradition. Originally, 'Ye Swan', the pub became the Black Swan in the mid 19th century, when it was very much a traveller's rest.
Our restaurant was the original stable block to feed and water the patron's horses, keeping up to six at a time. And the pub only has two bedrooms! Initially owned and run by the Monxton Brewery, along with the Bush (now the Brewery House), it was run as a small family interest for many years until it was bought by Strongs of Romsey.
Our dining rooms, can cater for anything from a quick pub lunch, an intimate dinner for two, an office party, business lunches or family occasions.
